Face to Face

Why Children in care are not always well looked after and kept safe. Some are treated badly by their new carers or bullied and abused by other children. Others are moved frequently from one place to another. Many feel lost, alone and helpless. They are sometimes desperate to talk to someone they can trust.

About the programme

The NSPCC’s Face to Face service in Warrington helps improve access to independent counselling for children in care. We provide 24-hour access to Childline and face-to-face counselling support for children with problems that put the young person at risk of serious harm.

Alongside support from ChildLine, the NSPCC provides face to face counselling sessions for children and young people using a solution focused approach.

Counselling sessions seek to empower the young person, build their resilience and create protective strategies. By the end of the counselling all young people will have developed their own personal action plan which will include information about the continuing availability of ChildLine’s online and telephone services.
